On to the next thing!

If you’re a close friend of mine, you’ve definitely heard me say — at least once — that I’d love to work at GitHub.

It’s also not a secret that I love the devtools space. I’ve spent most of my career building tools for developers — first to help with my own work, then as a side thing (GoReleaser), and later at Charm.

All that being said, yes, the rumors1 were true: I’m joining GitHub.

Between the announcement and my start date, I’m still on parental leave with our daughter.2

Starting a new job while sleep-deprived and deep in the newborn chaos sounds like a terrible idea, I know. But an opportunity like this doesn’t show up twice. I can still cut down on some other stuff to make some extra free time, so I’m confident I can make it work.3

I’ll start in a couple of weeks!

I’ll start in a couple of weeks!

I know you’ll ask, if only for the sake of the joke: no, I don’t think GitHub has a “free Copilot/GitHub Pro for friends and family” program, so I probably can’t help you with that. 🫪

See ya!

  1. AFAIK there are no rumors. I just always wanted to say that. 😂 ↩︎

  2. She is, by far, the best thing I’ve ever made. ↩︎

  3. I lived my whole life miscalculating how much I can actually get done, so let’s see how wrong I am in this particular case. 😂 ↩︎
